Singerman completed his PHD at UChicago in 2018; his dissertation focuses on the morphosyntax of Tuparí, a native Brazilian language. He continues to work on topics of typological and theoretical interest in Tuparí grammar. His field research has been supported by the Jacobs Research Funds, the Endangered Language Fund, and the National Science Foundation's Documenting Endangered Languages Program, in addition to the Center for Latin American Studies at UChicago.
