Janet Connor is a joint PhD Candidate in the Departments of Anthropology and Linguistics. Her dissertation, “The Poetics of Civic Participation in an Oslo Neighborhood,” explores enregisterment and forms of linguistic and other semiotic interaction in relation to questions of migration, gentrification, and the welfare state. Her research interests more broadly include semiotics, multilingualism, and forms of citizenship and belonging.
