I am working on my project Investigating cognitive diversity through landscape language(https://data.snf.ch/grants/grant/235304) that is funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Through ethnographic fieldwork, I document and analyze how Arabic and Berber speakers in Morocco talk and think about landscape. My main focus lies on linguistic structures that speakers use to carve up landscape e.g. into valleys, hills and mountains, and on the strategies that they use to make sense of their geographic environment.
