Hello! I am a first-year PhD student interested in lexical semantics, as well as the syntax/semantics and morphology/syntax interfaces. I did my undergrad at The University of Texas at Austin, where I graduated with dual degrees in Linguistics and Neuroscience. My linguistics honors thesis, supervised by Prof. John Beavers, was on the semantics of Farsi complex predicates denoting degree achievements. I am curious about cross-linguistic expressions of change more generally, as well as adjectival lexical semantics, and processes of word formation and grammaticalization.

Among the current projects I am working on is a joint study with Prof. Beavers (UT) and Lindia Tjuatja (CMU) on the semantic constraints on the formation of English middle constructions. I also have a solo project where I am investigating what sorts of restrictions exist on Farsi complex predicate formation.

When I am not absorbed in thinking about language, I like to read novels and manga. A few of my favorite authors are V. E. Schwab, R. F. Kuang, John Scalzi, and Yuji Kaku.
